Photodiodes
High-Performance Photodiodes for NIR & SWIR Detection
GPD Optoelectronics offers a broad lineup of photodiodes—including Germanium, standard and extended InGaAs, and high-speed variants—designed for precision detection from NIR to SWIR wavelengths. Their products also include advanced segmented and multi-cell position-sensing photodiodes to support alignment, tracking, and optical measurement applications.
InGaAs Photodiodes
InGaAs Photodiodes cover a range of performance needs: standard small-area devices provide fast response and low capacitance for high-speed detection, and standard large-area devices improve sensitivity for larger beams. Extended InGaAs expands wavelength coverage, and high-speed InGaAs supports demanding applications.
Germanium Photodiodes
Germanium Photodiodes are used for NIR power measurement in cost-sensitive or large-area applications. While they have higher dark current and noise than InGaAs, they perform well when signals are strong. GPD’s HS series offers higher shunt resistance for improved performance.
Position-Sensing Photodiodes
Position-Sensing Photodiodes detect both light intensity and position by comparing signals across segmented or continuous active areas. They enable precise beam alignment, tracking, and displacement measurement in applications such as optical positioning, stabilization, and alignment systems.
Avalanche Photodiodes
InGaAs Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs) provide higher sensitivity than standard photodiodes by using internal gain through impact ionization. This avalanche effect amplifies weak signals, making APDs ideal for very low-light applications such as LiDAR and optical communications.
