A 1550 nm Photodiode is a near-infrared photodetector engineered for high responsivity and low noise at 1550 nm, a primary wavelength band for fiber-optic networks. It is used in optical receivers, coherent and direct-detection systems, power monitoring, free-space optical links, and measurement instruments requiring accurate detection at 1550 nm. Selection is driven by speed, linearity, and dark current. GPD Optoelectronics manufactures photodiodes for operation around 1550 nm.
