A LiDAR Photodetector is a light sensor used in LiDAR receivers to detect returned laser pulses and convert them into electrical signals for distance and reflectivity calculations. Photodetectors may be photodiodes or APDs depending on required sensitivity, range, and background light conditions. Key parameters include bandwidth, noise, responsivity at the laser wavelength, timing response, and saturation behavior. LiDAR detectors are used in mapping, navigation, and industrial measurement. GPD Optoelectronics manufactures photodetectors for LiDAR applications.
